Understanding Readability Scores
Flesch Reading Ease
Scores text from 0-100 where higher scores indicate easier reading:

Grade Level Scores
Flesch-Kincaid, Gunning Fog, SMOG, Coleman-Liau, and ARI all produce grade level scores representing the US school grade needed to understand the text. A score of 8 means 8th grade (age 13-14).
Tips for Improving Readability
- Use shorter sentences (aim for 15-20 words)
- Choose simpler words over complex alternatives
