About EPC Certificates
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are required whenever a property is built, sold, or rented in the UK. The certificate provides information about a property's energy use and typical energy costs, as well as recommendations about how to reduce energy use and save money.
EPC ratings range from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient) and are valid for 10 years from the date of issue.
Why Check EPCs?
Estimate Energy Costs
An EPC provides estimated energy costs, helping you budget for your future energy bills.
Property Purchasing
Check the energy efficiency of a property before buying to avoid unexpected renovation costs.
Landlord Compliance
Landlords must ensure their properties meet minimum EPC standards (at least band E) for both new and continuing tenancies, unless a valid exemption applies. The government has confirmed this minimum will rise to band C from 1 October 2030.
Environmental Impact
More energy-efficient properties have a lower carbon footprint, helping combat climate change.
