Frequently Asked Questions

Enter your clock-in and clock-out times for each day of the week, plus any unpaid break minutes. The calculator works out hours and minutes worked each day, totals the week, and (if you enter an hourly rate) calculates gross pay. Overtime is automatically split out based on your weekly overtime threshold.

Yes. If your end time is earlier than your start time, the calculator assumes the shift ran past midnight and adds 24 hours to the end time. For example, 22:00–06:00 will correctly total 8 hours.

You set the weekly overtime threshold (40 hours by default for the US, 37 or 40 in the UK depending on contract). Hours over the threshold are paid at your overtime multiplier (default 1.5x – "time and a half"). Some employers use 2x for double time on weekends or holidays.

No – the minutes you enter as breaks are subtracted from total daily hours, since unpaid lunches/breaks are typical. If your break is paid, leave the breaks field at 0.

You can choose rounding: none, nearest 5 minutes, nearest 15 minutes, or nearest tenth of an hour (6 minutes). Many US employers round to the nearest tenth or quarter hour for payroll. Rounding only affects displayed hours and pay; the original times are preserved.

Yes. Use your browser's Print function (Ctrl+P or Cmd+P). The page is set up to print cleanly with results visible. You can also screenshot or copy the totals into your own payroll system.
