Tips for Best Results
-
Quiet Environment
Tune in a quiet room for the most accurate readings.
-
One String at a Time
Pluck only the string you're tuning and let it ring clearly.
-
Fresh Strings
Old strings may not hold pitch well. Consider changing them if tuning is difficult.
-
Phone Position
If using a phone, position it close to the sound hole or pickups.
About Tunings
The most common guitar tuning (E A D G B E). Used in most rock, pop, folk, and classical music.
The low E string is tuned down to D. Popular in rock, metal, and grunge for heavier riffs.
All strings tuned down one semitone. Used by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Slash, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Strumming all open strings produces a G major chord. Popular in blues, slide guitar, and Keith Richards' Rolling Stones work.
