About FRAX
What is FRAX?

FRAX (Fracture Risk Assessment Tool) is a computer-based algorithm developed by the World Health Organization that calculates the 10-year probability of a major osteoporotic fracture and hip fracture.

Major Osteoporotic Fractures Include:
  • Hip fracture
  • Clinical spine fracture
  • Forearm fracture
  • Humerus fracture
Treatment Thresholds (UK Guidelines):
  • Consider treatment if 10-year major osteoporotic fracture risk ≥10%
  • Recommend treatment if 10-year major osteoporotic fracture risk ≥20%
  • High priority treatment if 10-year hip fracture risk ≥3%
